About us
We are a small group of volunteers whose hearts were captured by the Nepali community during a successful Everest Expedition in 2012, and ever since have been looking for ways to help them.
Our mission is inspired by Sherpa Tenzing who said "I climbed Everest so that my children could pursue other paths." Nothing is more important to Nepali families than the education of their children and to keep them part of the local community, rather than being educated many tens of miles away from home.
Many children do not go to school, and education standards vary widely. Some schools in the area operate with a single teacher to a class of 50+ and little or no resources. They do the best they can with what they have.
We aim to change that - to bring quality education to the remote Nepali villages so that their children can flourish, learn new skills, and create opportunities for themselves whilst staying within their own community. Our plan is to provide a “hand-up”, not a “hand-out.” Through our organisation and with the support of the many trekkers and climbers who pass through these areas, we aim to help the local education specialists re-equip the schools and rebuild where necessary with the full involvement of the village community.
